						Fibre Transmission Technologies
						
						This course provides extensive coverage of the issues encountered in building and maintaining a fibre optic communications network. Students will acquire knowledge of single and multimode fibre, the manufacturing and construction of fibre cables, cable splicing and connectors. They will also understand the most important transmission issues: multimodal dispersion, chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion and attenuation as well as the test equipment and methods used to engineer a network that adequately manages these transmission impairments.

						Global Objectives 
						Upon completion of this course the learner will be able to list the steps necessary to evaluate, build and test a fibre optic networks and associated equipment.
